About us
Saria is a multi-brand shopping platform making it easier to discover and shop South Asian occasionwear from anywhere in the world.
We bring together a curated selection of South Asian brands and styles across approachable price points, with personalized guidance to help shoppers find the right look for their occasion and personal style. Behind the scenes, we take on the complexity too, carefully vetting our brand partners and prioritizing quality and reliable delivery so our customers can shop with confidence.
Our vision
South Asian fashion should be as easy to discover, understand, and shop as the fashion you already know. That means opening up access to the brands shoppers in India already know and love, wherever you happen to live.
Whether you've been wearing Indian clothes your entire life or you're shopping for your first Indian wedding, Saria is here to help you find an outfit you love and to feel confident wearing it.
Our story
Saria was founded by Ananya Sadarangani, an Indian-American raised in San Francisco with a lifelong connection to Indian fashion.
Growing up, Ananya's mom, who was raised in India and has always had an incredible eye for style, introduced her to the fabrics, silhouettes, designers, and details that made Indian fashion so special. But from thousands of miles away, accessing the styles she loved wasn't always easy. While beautiful shopping experiences existed at the luxury end of the market, finding distinctive, high-quality pieces at more accessible price points often meant navigating countless brands, websites, Instagram pages, unfamiliar sizing, and inconsistent quality and reliability.
At the same time, Ananya became the unofficial Indian fashion guide for her American friends. When someone was invited to an Indian wedding, she was the person they turned to for help figuring out what to wear, where to shop, what was appropriate for each event, and how to put it all together. More than once, the solution was simply borrowing something from her closet.
Those experiences sparked the idea for Saria: the shopping experience she had always wanted for herself, and the one she found herself recreating over and over again for her friends.
Before founding Saria, Ananya spent three years at Boston Consulting Group, with a focus on consumer, retail, technology, travel, and go-to-market strategy. She studied at Duke University and later earned her MBA from INSEAD.
